How to Make a Donation
If you believe that the pristine nature and quality of life in our area is worth protecting, we need your help. Whether you volunteer your time or not, this battle requires money. First Wind is a huge corporation with deep pockets, filled largely with our tax dollars. They have dozens of full time professionals who are paid to do everything they can to see that we fail and they prevail. Initial donations from the founders of the group have enabled us to retain our lawyer, register PPDLW as a nonprofit organization and generate flyers. We have donated many hours of our time on research, web construction, conference calls, graphic production and travel to meetings in Bangor, Augusta and Portland.
But there's much more to be done. We need to subscribe to wind industry reports, pay for additional supplies, photocopying, postage and legal counsel. Won't you please help us with a donation?
There are three ways that you can donate money:

Although PPDLW is legally registered as a nonprofit, we have yet to receive our tax exempt status. This may take several months. Therefore donations made directly to PPDLW are NOT yet tax deductible. If that doesn't matter to you, that is, if you don't itemize deductions on your taxes, making a donation is simple. Just make your personal check payable to PPDLW and mail it to our Treasurer: |

If the tax deduction IS important to you, and you DO itemize deductions on your taxes, there is a slightly different procedure. We have arranged a "fiscal sponsorship" with a tax-exempt group called Resources for Organizing and Social Change (ROSC). This sponsorship allows ROSC to process checks on our behalf. They then send us 99% of the donation, keeping 1% as their processing fee.
In order for your donation to be legally tax-deductible we ask that you make your check payable to "ROSC" and write "PPDLW" on the memo line. Mail your check to the same address shown above. We will then receive 99% of your donation while you receive 100% deductibility as a charitable donation.

You can also make a donation online using PayPal. You do not have to have a PayPal account. You can donate using your credit card without establishing an account. Just click on the orange Donate button that appears on the left side of every page.

We recognize that many of us are struggling financially these days. That means we will appreciate your donation all the more. If you can't contribute financially, we hope you will help us out by getting involved in other ways. Click on the "Get Involved" button at the top of this page to learn how.
